In the beginning...

Wow, the day of reading has so much stuff packed into it. This is such a concise record of the creation of the universe and the start of life. It fascinates me. Those forces or people with a goal to deny or refute God attack this story in an effort to make the rest of scripture illegitimate. Even though there are not many details, worldly knowledge has no evidence that can refute this account. I also think its important to remember God told the story to Moses in a way he could understand. While he had been educated, Moses was still essentially an 80 year old sheep herder around 1500BC when he spoke to God and got the information to write Genesis.

Amen! Although, worldly evidence or lack thereof has no bearing whatsoever on the veracity of scripture. God is certainly the one responsible for my faith, not human reason.

I agree, Genesis 1 has a ton of stuff. You have the Trinity present from the very begining "The Spirit of God" over the face of the water and "Let us create man in our image. You have the order of creation, the seven days in which God's essential righteousness and perfection is manifested in His creation. You have the power of God's Word; God speaks and it is immediately so. Truly a remarkable text.
