Moshiach ben Yosef!

Talk about "Christ-centered" reading! Look at the story of Joseph and you will see Yeshua/Jesus EVERYWHERE! What a glaring shadow/type indeed. We see in his story what also happened to Yeshua/Jesus. We now get to look forward to what is yet to come btwn Yeshua and Israel that is still yet to be fulfilled in the foretelling of the story or Joseph.

Messianics say Yeshua is both Moshiach ben Yosef AND Moshiach ben David! Amein.

Do Lutherans say the same?

IDK, you're very smart, man! Moshiach = Messiah. ben = son. Yosef = Joseph.

Lutherans see the type and future prophecy btwn Israel and Jesus, right? I just don't know what Lutherans call it. Messianics have a name for it b/c Jews have a name for it. What do Lutheran's call it?

But there is no doubt Joseph was a preview (maybe like a scale model?) of Jesus Christ. I often see God giving us a little taste of something to open our minds to seeing or plant the seed of understanding His work on a bigger level

Thanks. I was guessing that, but didn't want to assume anything

This is called "Ikvot Moshiach"... "Steps of The Messiah".
Meaning a Redeemer. There are many redeemers in biblical history, all are ikvot Moshiach to religious Hebrew minds (especially ben David!) Yeshua is all of them! My mothers maiden name is BOAZ = Kinsmen redeemer. Bible in 4k! :D

Maybe Pastor will know what Lutherans call Moshiach ben Yosef/David and Ikvot Moshiach.

Jules,

The answer to your question is absolutely yes! The Jewish interpretation (which actually originated shortly after Christ) that there are not one but two different Messiahs is absolutely false. Nowhere in the Old Testament is there any allusion that there are two to come and not one. In fact, the reality that Christ is the singular promised one through the entirety of the Law and the Prophets is exactly how the the New Testament begins: "The book of genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham" (Matthew 1:1).

Indeed, throughout the whole book of Genesis and the books to follow, we see countless types, or signs, of Christ. We see this not only in Joseph, but also in the rescue of Lot, the person of Melchizedek, the lamb God provided Abraham, and countless others. The book of Hebrews is a great help here.

Yeshua Jesus is both Moshiach ben David AND Moshiach ben Yoseph! Jews who come to Messiah learn that both apply to Yeshua as there is only ONE savior. This is a matter of timing and rescue as far as WHEN Moshiach will come. Some sects believe He will come both times and that is true. He is both b/c He comes twice.
