Hello,
I thought today's reading was interesting in that twice the Lord said "your only son" to Abraham in reference to Isaac. Genesis 22:2 and 22:16.

I thought that was odd also, as the first born was Ishmael.
I think this is a fundamental misunderstanding from the West about the Middle East. The Quran mentions Ishmael as the son that Abraham was going to sacrifice, not Isaac.
